Anyone play it?

Many, many, many years ago. I seem to remember it handled large engagements well.

I don't think I've heard of this one...found the link!

I'm intrigued by the fact that David Weber has been involved with the game and writen books in the universe. Another one for the list, it looks like 8).

Gone through MANY versions. Rules here are very simple as well, great backstory for the original races (Terrans and Khanate of Orion, otherwise known as your house cat) as well as the additional ones that have been put out there. One book (called Crusade I believe) but there is also a supplement called Crusade (it's a great read) that details the Terran-Theban war.

White and Weber wrote a lot of fiction in the Starfire Universe. Played a lot of it in decades predating computers and cell phones. Easy and fun.

Is this another "we supply the rules, you supply the minis" kind of games?
-
They had official minis available, but it was a more "Take your minis and make sheets to match them"

They did not have a large assortment of minis, basically a mini for many of the ship classes, not a mini for a particular races ships/classes. They must have produced very few of them in the past as I have only seen them posted on eBay two or three times in about 5+ years (and I never got any of the originals). Imagine my delight when I came across these a few weeks ago.

And there are many more today than when I found them a few weeks ago. And now race specific ships, that match much of the artwork in the rule books and supplements. Might have to pick up a few... Uhg...
