Hi there this project has been under wraps for sometime now. I'm pleased with the way they turned out. Acrylics and Oil washes were used to simulate weathering. The water was done with a combination of Vallejo acrylics, woodland scenic white water effects, clearcoat and gloss-coat. The standing Metzger was also slightly re-positioned and pinned for a more dynamic pose. I followed a color scheme I have the rest of my Kingdom Of Denmark fleet painted in, the idea bieng that the Prussian lent a couple of Metzgers to the Danes ;D. As a side note I'm actually painting up a 3rd Metzger he'll be holding a ball & chain mine swinging it around so stay tuned! also for some reason the forum didn't let me upload so here is a direct link to my page

Very cool work! I like how the rivets pop.

Very nice work! I think they fit right in with your Dutch :) The water effects came out great, I think they are some of the best I've seen. It's interesting to hear you used oil washes on them for weathering; I've heard of that technique used a lot in model railroading and larger scale armor modeling, but it's unusual to see it applied on smaller scale minis such as these. Very cool!
also for some reason the forum didn't let me upload so here is a direct link to my page
Yeah...sorry about that. This is due to a persistent database error that I've been unable to fix despite my best efforts. The same error is what causes members to be unable to upload avatar photos, and requires folks to host them elsewhere and use the URL option. Speaking of which, I took the liberty of updating your post above to direct link to the images using the IMG tag so that they would be visible :)

I'm not a fan of those Metzgers, have lost too many ships to them, but yours do look very good!

Thanks for the update I wasnt sure if it was just me lol. It's a very simple subtle but awesome technique and it can be used virtually on any scale model. The trick is in the use of Turpenoid and oil based gauche you take a reg beat up brush and mix a tiny bit into your gauche oil pallet then take a small fine detail brush and dab onto the crevasses of the model. A combination of viscosity and the rapidly breaking oil pigment spread quickly and dry within in a couple seconds of applying giving you the effect.

These look fantastic! Great work.
