Hi everybody,
Catalyst is currently running their Battletech Clan Invasion Kickstarter, which exceeded their wildest dreams and is currently at over 1 million USD. It will take them a year and then some to fulfill this project, but it looks like they have their eyes on Leviathans for their next Kickstarter.
If you are not aware of this game - it was a rather short-lived steam-punkish fleet battle game with flying ships, set in an alternate 1900s timeline. The premise is not too different from Dystopian wars, but the game itself is. I have never played it, but it seems to me like a mix of Dystopian Wars and Battletech, which could be an interesting mix.
Here is the announcement:

COMING TO KICKSTARTER IN 2020!
Originally published in 2012 to critical acclaim, the game will return via Kickstarter in 2020. Advancing the timeline to the start of World War I, Leviathans: The Great War will unleash new factions, miniatures and more!

EEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
-
Well, that should be most interesting indeed!
-
Never got into it but always thought it looked cool. Very interesting developments indeed.

If I recall, it was a KS in the first place?

Yes, and a lot of backers got their stuff if not all. In fact, I can even attest to a couple of production sets appearing at my local FLGS when I lived in the Big City.
What seemed to kill the game was a lack of support in the first few months - no new factions or items for existing forces came out, it just was what you got in the starter box. The whole thing fizzled , and no new non KS players joined the tide. Certainyl not the fault of the game mechanics - Got soem very favourbale reviews aroudn the place - or the model quality to my knowledge.

I was considering getting a few of the models to run as alternate RoF skimmer battleships for Dystopian Wars, but never did. Will be watching as this develops!

My local FLGS had the fleet boxes, but I never got the scratch to buy them.

Me neither at the time - NZD210 for a box, when my weekly wage was about NZD300? That was a "nope" right there. I do regret it, especially as I am know working at far better wages, but still . . .

Actually got a Leviathans game in this last weekend...

Very nice! I like the paint schemes. How was the game?

Great fun. My buddy has fallen in love with sowing chaos with crisscrossing torpedo tracks, and my personal high point was using a close-range broadside from Paris to shatter Medusa's bow. And by bow, I mean everything forward of the funnels.
-
ooh! This looks fun, i remeber a person bringing the game to a club used to go to down south back when lived in essex. Was interested if a little put off by hexs map, never did get to play but remeber looking at the models. ^^

Just looked at some pictures, wow :o These look nice and looking forward to. ^^

I'm happy to see the game return, myself! Backing the KS though...my backing of it is going to depend on a lot of things, such as the price point and if the game is backwards compatible or not.
-
Well thats the thing, buying from america is exspensive for me in uk.

My main concern with this project is that Randall's son Bryn is in charge of development. Untested designers and nepotism don't fill me with confidence.
-
In addition to the KS, there is also apparently a video game in the works:

The announcement makes it sound like this will be a reasonably faithful adaptation of the boardgame, with some "RTS and light RPG elements" added in. No mention of what platform this will be for, yet. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out, and if they decide to KS the video game as well as the revival of the tabletop game.

I hope they are not biting off more than they can chew.....

Amen to that. Surest way for a KS to die is overeach with goals and items.
