The folks over at Admiralty Trilogy Group are putting the finishing touches on the long-awaited revision of their acclaimed Harpoon series:

ATG is EXTREMELY glad to announce that all six books (Harpoon V rules, the player's handbook, have been sent to the printer, beginning the proof/approval process. This will take some time, since each has to be approved, then printed, and mailed to us. ATG is not allowed to sell the softcover until a proof copy has been printed and inspected (pesky quality control). In the meantime, we will finish the Jumpstart, a free .pdf that introduces the rules and has a sample scenario with a detailed narration. We are also working on automated ship and aircraft reference sheets(Forms 1 and 2) , which will be available on our website.

I'm really excited about this! I've been wanting to try out Harpoon for a number of years now, but I've been holding off until the new edition drops. It looks like it's finally about to happen.

Hard copy?  No software in the offing?

This is for the tabletop game, not an update to the PC game. That being said, from what I'm seeing on the FB group page, there are folks out there who are planning to automate certain aspects of the rules with excel files and the like.

What is the difference in the two versions?

Quickstart is free and only walks through a single scenario of game play.
