The world of online communities continues to evolve! This little poll is intended to be a a fun little way to gage how the community here is using and interacting with social media these days when it comes to hobby discussions.
Speaking for myself, it seems I'm doing a lot more of this via Facebook and Discord these days!

The world is moving on, but I still find messageboards to be one of the best methods for having good online discussion. All other sources loose content in the signal to noise ratio to easily.
They are better for advertising and one-off's but bad for actual conversation and community building. That is of course IMHO.

Forums cannot be beat for searchability!

To clarify my earlier post, I am not totally against newer social media and tonight I had every intention of logging on to admit that without Facebook it would have been much more difficult to find that the videos of NavyCon 2021 and forward are being stored on Youtube under NavyCon Official in place of USNA Museum.
However, tonight also saw the soft cancellation of Star Wars Armada via three casual sentences on Facebook.
I rarely use social media because it is designed for brevity, and I find that messaging on forums is a more permanent act, that makes later reference possible.

I generally agree that for archival purposes, forums can't be beat. Unfortunately, things like Discord and especially Facebook have the advantage of meeting people where they are, which is to say that if I already have a FB account, it's really easy for me to just hit the Like button or the Join button for a page/group. Where as with forums like this one, you have to go and create an account.

This poll has been rather interesting in its results. Especially in the last few weeks, when several prominent games companies have talked about how fora are no longer their priority in communicating with customers ( Mostly talking about "lack of control over content" ) . . . And the US government's recent response to Facebook as a whole.

Well, a poll on a forum is a bit self-selecting. :D

Perhaps just a little, yes. :)
However, the Discord fora are very active and not just because they have a an audio contact component either. Little bi "Appeal To Novelty" I grant you, but their specialization and ease of use compared to many other fora adds to that I feel.
