Here is my first Firestorm ships in a while, a squadron of Destroyers and a squadron of Frigates:

Freehand?!?!? Good grief man, that is some good work! I consider myself a halfway-decent detail painter, but there is no way I could freehand something like that. If the design was already there I'd have no problems painting it, but...geez! Good stuff!

The bases are the Omni Stand system from Corsec Engineering. I'll put a quick tutorial together for you if you like, but they are pretty straight forward ;).

Yep! That was the idea. When I first sat down to paint my Mk I models back in 2009, I assumed that the little recessed areas in the middle of the Terran ships were vertical launch tubes of some sort. That's when the caution stripes idea occurred to me!

Thanks! I magnetized them. Specifically, the upper hulls are magnetized to the lower hulls. The inserts in the middle for the extra turret option are just sitting in their sockets. That definitely secures them well enough for gameplay purposes since the socket is so deep! I'm still working on the paint for the light cruiser hulls.

Yes, these are the Taskforce models. I picked up the "Reinforcements Box" which has just the Terran models in it; three of the light/torpedo cruisers, and 6 of the light frigates. Although, I wound up with a "bonus" 7th frigate in my box!

These little guys have a lot of detail on the undersides that you normally can't see when they are on their stands!

And last but not least, I painted up a 3rd destroyer so that I now have a full squadron of 3! For years, I only had the two of them. The new one is the one in the middle. I'm very happy that they match so closely, since the other two were painted years ago. In fact, they were the first ships I painted in this current scheme; I developed the dark blue with light blue accent idea because of this model, in an effort to break up the large flat surfaces some and give it more visual interest.
