Title: 1/350th 688i
Post by: Ruckdog on April 05, 2015, 08:05:57 pm
I just finished a presentation model of my ship that will be a going away present for one of my fellow department heads who is leaving soon. The model is 1/350th, which makes it about 13" long:

All that is missing is the small brass plaque that will go on the angled piece of wood on the base; the engravers will have that done tomorrow. Thanks for looking!

A Chinese (naturally) outfit called Hobby Boss:

Not a bad kit...reasonably accurate, and you have everything in the box to make any one of the 3 main variants of the class.

Ah yes, I've heard of Hobby Boss. Never built any of their models though.

Let's see...the last submarine models I built were the Red October and the USS Dallas, from the movie. When I was 13. (Longer ago than I care to admit). I can't remember the scale, but I do remember the Red October being a pretty good-sized model. Do you have other sub models around the house that you've built?

"You know, I seen me a mermaid once. I've even seen a shark eat an octopus. But I ain't never seen no phantom Russian submarine."

Actually, while I've built a number of sub models over the years (at least 5 I can think of), they were all made as presents. As a result, I have none on my shelves!

Well, since you get to see the real thing every day, I guess that makes up for the lack of models.  :D
