I’m not sure PE could get away.. she’s probably not in top form and could only manage 32kts compared to say the S Class destroyers 36kts. Savage or Iroquis could easily shadow PE and stay out of Torp range if Dido / Devonshire couldn’t quite keep up (although they can both match PEs speed)

Also I don’t think you can underplay (as has been said) the importance of Radar.  Gone are the days of slipping into a fog bank.

So I think its an intriguing idea, but ultimately PE and Nurnberg, even if they were somehow able to get BVR would still be doomed.  Without her main armament PE is a sitting duck, Devonshire and Iroquois could pop away all day at her from outside of Torpedo range if they felt like it.

One other thing, is while PE’s crew would be running for their freedom (or so they thought), The RN crews don’t have any love for the Kreigsmarine at this point and I’m not sure they would be particularly restrained in prosecuting an attack.

Thats my tuppence worth.. was an interesting thought experiment tho

Wondered if anyone else plays Starmada Unity by Majestic 12 Games?

Full Thrust was my Go-To but I’ve been very enamoured of this ruleset lately (its about as crunchy as FT) especially its excellent ship creation rules which really work for my imaginations campaign.  If you haven’t I’d recommend taking a look

Hi from Vancouver Island

 Just discovered the podcast and am trying to catch up on episodes, really enjoying it.  I've been a Wargamer for years and years but rarely get to play but have always had an affinity for Naval wargames.  Given that I live isolated from many gamers I'm interested in doing a bunch of solo play, my most recent was a Full Thrust game.
 
 I'm interested in all sorts of games, Historical and Sci-Fi, Painting and playing but my current played are
 
 1. Full Thrust
 2. Imperial Skies
 3. Star Wars Armada (have miniatures.. would love to play)
 4. X-Wing (much like Armada)
 
 I'm also in the process of re-booting some of my older games and miniatures
 
 1. WW2 Naval .. I have a some oooooollldd minis I'm in the process of repainting.. need rules
 2. Cold War Naval .. just like my WW2 need rules
 3. Napoleonic Naval : I have some mini's but need to build them
 3. Star Trek III : Tactical Combat Simulator
 
 I also used to play Gothic a lot back in the day and loved it, but sold my minis to fund my Full Thrust habit.. a reboot would be tempting
 
 
 I guess thats me for now.. looking forward to exploring the forum and listening to the podcasts
