Dystopian Wars October Releases

More goodies coming down the pipe from Spartan Games....

Not sure about the look of the East India Company ships (although the airship looks great); will have to see them in person before I form an opinion.  I do like the idea, though.

And the merchant convoy fleet--especially those platforms--could make for some interesting scenario games.

I'll probably buy that and the merchant fleet.  Definitely love the airship!

Wowzers!!!

Here's my faves:

Merchant Navy Convoy - Ummm heck yes oil rigs! My mind is spinning with possible scenarios built around this box. After completing the Xcam we have been play testing a bunch if new missions and I see this box as really helping to expand those. Ie control all three rigs, escort the liner/capture it, etc etc. By far this one is tops IMO.

EIMC - Been having a bit of a personal struggle over which fleet to try out next. Was heavily considering the Ottomans, but since I'm FSA I doubt there would be much of a chance to team up with them. Also thought of going with the KoB. With them I'm just not a fan of the style of ships they have. Enter the EIMC. ALL YOUR BLIMP ARE BELONG TO US muahahaha... They look to be a fun attachment when protecting the much needed supply lines, and like I said above add in even more missions.

Landing Ships - Meh...I do like the support carriers, and the tugs are TDF. Other than that I have no interest. None of the ppl in our small crew play with land, so getting this box would just be flushing USDs down the drain

Agreed on the EIMC.  That blimp is awesome.  And I like the role they play in the game, although I've not yet checked out who they're allied with.

I've played a couple games with Ruckdog using landing ships.  They're a bit cumbersome, and it seems to take forever to get land forces into place using them.  Plus, you need several of them to get a decent-sized force on land.  I guess there are some scenarios where they might work.

I hear you about the fleets.  My first was the FSA, then I picked up the French.  And I've only used the Chinese fleet a couple of times--admittedly, I picked them up mainly because I like the way the ships look.  My feeling on the "follow-on fleets" (i.e. the fleets after the first five releases--FSA, PE, KoB, EotBS, and CoA) is that they seem to have alot of ship choices, but they are fairly straightforward.  With the follow-on fleets, them seem to have more exotic weapons systems and more intricate special rules.  For example--in order to play the Chinese effectively, you REALLY have to stay on top of their various MARs and fleet rules, especially governing their sonic and flamethrower weapons.  The FSA, by contrast, are a mostly "point and shoot" fleet.

But, that's what makes the game so interesting!
