Force Z Japanese bombers added.
« on: May 01, 2012, 04:24:42 am »
My force Z ships.  The Prince of Wales, Repulse, destroyers Electra, Express, Tenedos and the Australian Vampire.

And some Cap Aero 1/1200 Buffalos from 453 squadron RAAF. on call to provide air cover.  Unfortunately called too late.

Still need to order the Japanese aircraft before I can refight the battle.

The ships look great!

Where do you get your 1/1200 scale aircraft?

thanks.  I generally get both GHQ ships and the Cap Aero aircraft from Magister Militum in the UK.  They also have some aircraft in their own range.   I did get some Cap Aero aircraft from Strange Cargo Games in the US but their website hasn't worked for me for a long time.  Sadly no one I know of stocks either in Australia.

Great job! Ships and aircraft look great! Can I make one suggestion though? And this only meant in a positive way/spirit... and to improve on the otherwise awesome looking ships... consider toning down the stark white wakes. They seem a bit heavy-handed and IMHO detract from the great job you did on the ships themselves. OK... now tell me to piss off!  :)

What rules will you use to resolve this battle?

Ok  :D  No. any constructive criticism or ways to improve are welcome.

Not too sure yet.  I have GQ3 and my mate who does naval stuff has Naval Thunder.  So will see which one works best for us.

GQ3 is cool. Should work well if you end up using that one. Have never played Naval Thunder myself.

Try to post an after action report of some kind. Would be interesting to see if you can save the capital ships!

A "what-if" scenario, adding in the Indomitable, might be fun ?  ;)

Sure will, just  a question of when, we are very short staffed at work at the moment..  With what Neil is collecting and what I have, I dare say the first battle will be Java Sea.

Some Nells and Bettys to launch the attack on Force Z.  Along with a Rufe to do the scouting. Mixture of Cap Aero and 617 SQN.  grabbed the first available coin for size, difficult things to photograph the size of them, for those not familiar with Aussie coins the $2 has about the same diameter as the American Nickel in my collection.

Wow, those are small.  Good job on the camo though.  Yes, please post some pics of the fleet in action.  I'm really only familiar with Dystopian Wars when it comes to naval wargaming, so it would be cool to see something different.

Hi Geoff,

I have not been to this forum in ages! The Japanese air armada looks great!
BTW: Did you ever play out the battle?

Forgive me if the AAR is elsewhere on the forum. Point me in the right direction if so.

Cheers,

Gary

No not yet.  Work has really got in the way of my modelling of any form lately, and being a shift worker it is hard to match up days for a game with my friends.  Also with our local model show in February I have been concentrating my small modelling time on larger scale models (1/350) to try and get a couple done for the show.
