Yarkshire Gamer 1/700 WW2 Naval Project Thread
« on: September 28, 2022, 08:05:22 am »

https://yarkshiregamer.blogspot.com/2022/09/new-1700-ww2-naval-project.html

Sometimes madness strikes in the strangest of ways and I certainly hadn't planned a foray into a scale and period that needs a huge warehouse to play but Yarkshire Gamer has never been known for the smaller things in gaming.

I've done a blog post (link above) to discuss the plans for the Project and show off the first completed ship I've done. I think this is one of the best pieces I've done in a long time, possibly ever.

Why not join me on this latest journey.

Regards Ken

Great article, looking forward to seeing more.  I would not have thought of comparing across scales but there are a lot more offerings in 1/700 than I realized, and some of the GHQ metals do have a surprising amount of pieces so the assembly was probably a lot easier on the plastics.

As far as the rule, just have these at the far end of the room, they should look the same size.
If my wife asks, I only spent half as much as I wanted to...

Looking great! I have collected a few 1/700 kits myself with the idea of doing some thing similar someday for convention spectacle games :)

As I put the latest Project together I thought I would do a thread for the Project so drop by regularly for new updates.

The latest ship is the German Destroyer Z32 and my first attempt at masking tape.

Looking sharp!  The light weathering is a good offset to the camouflage lines.

The base is 420mm x 100mm which is about 15.5 inches by 4 inches, it's big mate 😆

I've started a series of short videos to go along with this Project.

The link above will take you to the first video which deals with the start of my Bismark build, I plan to do Kit Reviews, Builds, Tutorials, ship histories and maybe even some game play when I get going.

https://yarkshiregamer.blogspot.com/2022/10/a-pair-of-1700-o-class-destroyers.html

Another couple of ships have been completed and commissioned into the Yarkshire Navy this week.

A pair of O Class Destroyers, HMS Onslow (G17) and HMS Obedient (G48) one fitted with the standard 4.7" Guns the other with QF 4".

Played around a bit more with the weathering on these without trying to over do it, every day is a school day lol

2 German Destroyers and the Bismark are currently under construction.
