Hey, I recognize that gaming mat and the background--you were playing at Eagle and Empire, weren't you?  I've sunk many ships (and had many of mine sunk as well) on that mat...

Yup, we went over to E&E for a game (another loss for me!). Was fun to go back after ooh twelve years or so and still see some of the other guys we played with. Sounds like there are a good few other players there, so will def try and swing by more often.

The mat was massive! Which you would think would be great for FSA, but the endless expanseive sea and flawed targeting systems proved too much...

That's amazing man!  Love the minis, and whatever background Eagle and Empire is using is fantastic. :)

That mat was actually purchased by Ruckdog--he and I used to game there quite a bit.  I think he donated it to the store when he left for a Navy training school up north.

Glad to hear that there are DW players at E&E.  Ruckdog and I would meet there on Friday nights to play, but after he left it was hard to find opponents--just didn't seem to be too popular of a game there (it seemed to me that E&E leaned a lot more towards Flames of War and Warhammer/Warhammer40k).  Plus, the DW model selection was poor, and their distributor had a hard time getting DW models.  But that was all as of a year ago...been awhile since I played there!

You haven't run into a CoA player there named Ken, have you?  He would join Ruckdog and I some evenings, when his schedule allowed.  Great guy, fun to play against.

Was great to play on a different map. Thanks to Ruckdog for the donation!

Yeah the DW was a bit on the slim side. Tho it is nice to have a place near by us. Not that I don't mind heading down to the GV. Was just there this last weekend. E&E gets pretty busy on Friday nights from what I understand so may shoot for a weeknight game here and there. Not sure if his name was Ken, but did run into a CoA player. Also meet another EoBS player, who had a serious affinity for Ika's...

Glad to say that since this game, my newly reinforced FSA are out of their slump. Taking decisive action against the Russian Coailition, and Prussian navies. True that the dread played the biggest role in this  ;)

Good to hear there are other players there.  Ken's a good guy, not sure if he's still gaming there or not.  Between his kids and his work schedule, often times he couldn't make it.  I'll see if I can get in touch with him and see if he's still playing there or not.

Glad your FSA is getting out of the slump!  I have a theory about Russians....I played a Russian player about a month ago here who beat me like a rented mule.  First time I've gone up against the Russians.  Admittedly, we realized afterwards that he had been playing his escorts wrong...he thought that they linked primaries with the battleship, which gave him 26AD in RB2....needless to say he shredded my battleship in short order.

So my theory--I think FSA should be able to somewhat easily defeat them with a combination of good ol' fashioned guns and kinetic generators.  Large amounts of AD are needed to break that $%#& ablative armor, thinning them out before they get into RB2 and can use their weapons is key.  No one does better at long-range gunnery than the FSA.  Kinetic generators on your battleship/dreadnaught and cruisers/gunships should help you to stay "ahead" of them and keep in RB3-4.  Wouldn't even bother throwing rockets at them until they're seriously weakened (like down to half their HP) due to those rocket- and torpedo-breaker generators they have.  I will admit, I haven't yet tried this tactic, but I think it will work.

I didn't take any pics of it, but last Thursday I combined my French forces with a Japanese player to take on the Russkies...I supplied the French dreadnaught, a full squadron of Frelon small flyers, and a full squadron of Epaulard subs.  We won, and the French did the heavy lifting due to the Japanese player placing his ships poorly during deployment (took him too long to get in range).  The French dreadnaught held off two Russian battleships, with escorts, and two cruiser squadrons.  At the end, the dread and the small flyers had sunk a whole cruiser squadron, wiped out all the escorts for one battleship, and sunk one cruiser in the second squadron.  The dreadnaught still had 7 HP remaining (granted, I got a couple of "Pass the Tools" cards to repair HP).  It was epic.  Well, epic for the tabletop anyway.  :)
