Check out http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/ there's not a whole lot that I've seen for naval games specifically but there's a lot of great inspiration and tutorials on there plus making your own terrain is just fun :D. Check out the comps section too.

I cant follow their competitions too closely, I wouldnt have a life anymore, some of the folks on there are simply amazing.
