Dindrenzi Shipyard
« on: July 28, 2014, 11:04:00 pm »
Finally getting around to assembling some Dindrenzi and what a POIA.  Specifically the Conqueror Battleship.  Nothing fits right, having to shave a bunch of resin off just to get things to (kinda) fit, there is about 1-2mm of gap between the two main hull parts once you add on the forward gun array, the top gun array/bridge and the big railgun cannons on the front.  Looks like serious amounts of filler are going to be needed.  Anyone else have this issue?

The Conqueror (and just about all of the MK1 Spartan stuff) has been pretty... well crappy. If you purchased new contact Spartan and see what they can do for you. Their customer care is fantastic, I just got a pair of MK1 Tormentors a couple months back that had some issues and they sent new ones right out (well took about a month total from email to receiving the replacements).

Never heard poia? I've always heard pita... ;)
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

Jeepers!  I can't type!  Or spell!  Yes, PITA is what I meant.

As for the Conqueror, I am doing a LOT of filing, we'll see if I can't get some of the parts to fit.  This will be my first big FA assembly job, so if she looks as if she was cobbled together by a bunch of orks, she may end up being the priming/painting prototype for the rest of the fleets.

I agree with Andrew, you should contact Spartan. It sounds like you got an early Conquerer. The first production batches were notorious for defects like the one you describe, where one half of the ship contracted slightly while the resin cured, resulting in misalignments.  Spartan's QA has gotten a lot better since then...

I might do that...  If I cant salvage what I've got.  Moved on to other races, so now the Conqueror is at the bottom of my "to build" list.
