Gamer's Haven hosts an games auction twice a year. Next is Jan 17th, lost accepted (I think) from 10 til 11 or noon. Then they auction it all off til gonbe usually no later than 8PM.
Packets become available soon - you get 20 lot cards per seller, you list minimum starting bid (trust me, lower is ALWAYS better).
Sellers get their prices back ONLY in store credit.
Buyers must pay that day, at the end or during breaks.
Seller proceeds cannot offset your Buyer bill.
Folks auction everything from mini games (GW does best of course) to boardgames to RPGS to classic historicals to sci-fi/fantasy books. Anything vaguely of interest to game store crowd! Buyer paddles are assigned when you arrive. The room stays fairly crowded until 4PM or so.
Most folks wont bid over $100, so putting up whole painted armies will be disappointing. Breaking them into bite size chunks, less so. Occasionally there's some high rollers, but few to bid against them.
If you DO have a few hundred, you can often make a KILLING on a painted army. Last year, there was about $1000 of Imperial Guard, painted, in foam, available for a mere $150.
