Draft Painting Contest Rules
« on: January 03, 2016, 02:48:54 pm »
Greetings once again! The season for the 2016 Painting Contest is almost upon us, and this year the rules and format are going be changing significantly. Make sure you read the full rules, but here is a summary of the changes:

1. There will be 3 awards: Admiralty Awards, Member’s Choice, and Commander’s Choice.

2. You will be able to submit multiple entries this year.

3. Membership in the MBS forum is not required to enter, though it does confer an advantage in the Admiralty Award voting.

We need participation from the community to make this work! Specifically, we will need three judge volunteers, and we are also accepting donated items to be used as prizes.

As a final note, these rules are very much in a draft form. They will be finalized on 15 January 2016, which will still provide two weeks before the submission window ends.

Outstanding. Looks like I'll have a busy start to the year! :P If you're still looking for judges I'd be happy to participate if needed.
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

You're the first to volunteer, so you are in as far as I'm concerned ;).

Well, I should point out that your entries do not have to be painted within the submission window; the only restriction is that you can't submit anything that has been previously entered in the MBS contest. Theoretically, you could submit something you painted years ago if you wanted. I know a lot of you like to challenge yourselves to paint something new for the contest, though ;).

Also note that you can submit an unlimited number of entries...though that may mean you could find that you are competing against yourself in the voting!

Oh sure, but I can't seem to paint much if I'm not under a deadline.  ;D

Hmmm, just re-read the rules and noticed that landships and the like are allowed into the competition now. Ever the one for a good pun....wheels are turning on what to paint up...Also after listening to the MBS podcast there are some other very interesting models out there. Especially with Deep Wars...

Well, to be fair, landships have always been permitted ;). However, I've only ever had one submitted to the contest!

So, thanks for the feedback so far, guys. Please continue to provide comments and recommendations. Also, don't forget I still need volunteers for judging!
