So Dale, do you have a date for the games day yet?

No response from Rob or Ed to my email (seriously ... why do people never respond to emails anymore?).
And I haven't been into town yet to ask in person. If afternoon goes okay, I'll be in tonight... otherwise Thurs is my next chance.

Well, just let me know. Like I said right now my weekends in September are free except for Tacticon. Count me in for Halo: Fleet Battles and Ground Command (assuming I have my models by then...one can never predict these things between Spartan's release procedures and the irregularities with the Haven's distributors). I could also do a Dystopian Wars scenario--maybe a variant of "Sink the Bismarck!" or something like that.

Confirmed for September 17th with the Haven! (Ed)

Let me know what time-frame you want to run stuff, and I'll schedule my own demo-battles with that in mind. Then I'll do flyers and Forum postings, etc. We'll have leftover swag from the Prize kits for Tacticon.

We should have at least 2 tables, probably 4+ as the only other event that day is Pathfinder.

IIRC, Stephan should be free too that day.

If you have any special ideas or requests, let me know.

I think I'm back in town on the 18th. Bummer
Sounds to me like another good attempt to get the games some exposure. If you guys can host some good demos and then get after it on a regular Sunday gaming session I think the winter could drum up some interest.
As always, let me know if you need any of my models for demos or scenarios.

Good to go, the 17th it is.

I really don't have a preference on when to run games. What time do you want to get started? And how late do you want to go? I can be there all day if needed. Judging on past experience, it might be good if we were there until a little later in the evening with at least a couple of games going. They seem to get busier on Saturday evenings.  Also, let me know if you need help getting the word out.

Hopefully I'll have my Halo: Ground Command stuff by then!

I actually talked with Ed last week about the whole Sunday idea. He said he'd be happy to give us a couple tables if they're available (other games would take priority), but he doesn't think we'll get much more exposure on Sunday than we currently do on Monday. So I don't know. Dale, you know the staff and that store better than I do, so I'm going to defer to you on this. I will still play there on Monday nights for the foreseeable future--I can't really support being there on Sundays and Mondays. Maybe if we wanted to start getting a few games in on Sundays, I could do every other week or something like that.

Dale, FYI, I got a PM from Ed on the Haven's forum about the schedule for the Spartan day on the 17th--he wants to get some details on the store calendar, I think. YI told him it was your show and I was just helping to run a few games, so he'd have to talk to you about game start times, etc.

I have to go by the store before Friday, so I'll get a flyer going. Any preferences on HALO times, if we start at 10AM overall?

And is the Ground Battles set questionable to arrive in time now?

I'd almost enjoy making Dystopian as the main event:

10-1: HALO
1-4: Dystopian Wars
4-7: Firestorm Armada
7-10: Planetfall

(Maybe a linked battle between Firestorm and Planetfall - space results dictate some of the ground game)

I'll try to have Ground Command ready by then, but it all depends on when I get it. My focus after Tacticon is going to be Ground Command, DeepWars, and Firestorm Armada. It's all up to Spartan right now as to when I actually have the game in-hand.  :(

If possible, I'd recommend we start at 1130 or 1200. Seems like every time I'm at the Haven on Saturdays, the only other people there when the store opens are people who have already scheduled a game with an opponent. Even on the Haven celebration/anniversary days, traffic in the store doesn't seem to pick up until around 1200. So I would recommend the following:

12-3: Halo Fleet Battles
3-6: Dystopian Wars
6-9: Firestorm Armada
7-10: Firestorm Planetfall

Or shift everything back to a start time of 1100/1130.

The Planetfall game could run linked to the Armada game or stand on it's own. If we can get 3-4 tables like last time, it probably wouldn't be too difficult to run both at the same time.

Just a suggestion. I just don't think we'll see many people in the store at 10 when we start the Halo "block". But I'll go with whatever you'd like, and if you want to stick with the original schedule, I can support Halo starting at 10.

Later start makes sense...
I could also move HALO to the evening, but I think you'll get more gawkers around lunchtime

Plus Firestorm and Planetfall could overlap very nicely - make it a true Realtime scenario. I'll have to re-read the Planetary Assault stuff...

Works for me. Just let me know. I *should* have all my Halo Fleet Battles stuff painted by then!

Okay, final schedule:

12 - 3: Halo Fleet Battles, possibly followed by HALO GROUND COMBAT

3 to 6 : Dystopian Wars -- Sink The Martians!

6 to Close: Firestorm Armada and Firestorm Planetfall -- System Wars!

Bring what you have, or minis provided. New Players or Experienced.

Awesome. Thanks for putting this together Dale.

I can't guarantee my Halo: Ground Command models will be ready by then. Unfortunately I received the game during a very busy time--I was in the final stages of prepping models for Tacticon, and I was also in the process of changing jobs. So I've been a bit busy and haven't been able to give the models the time and attention I would like.

If nothing else, I'll try to have a few infantry bases complete so I can show them around.

Carey Westover and his son Josiah will be coming in for HALO Fleet Battles :-)

And if there's a lull, I plan to make you play Trek Attack Wing...

What's the consolidated plan?  Should I bring my Martians and what's the start time?  I probably have to leave no later than 4pm.

Bring the Martians for sure - we might have to overlap Dystopian and HALO then, if you have to leave by 4

Overlapping shouldn't be an issue. Maybe I can jump in as a second-wave reinforcement against the Martians after the Halo game is over.

Also...my copy of Halo: Ground command won't be ready by Saturday. I wish it would be, but I've just been too busy with the new job and other things. Aiming to have one of the Warthogs done just so I can show it around.
