Congratulations again for an excellent and thought-provoking podcast!
A few notes I had after listening - the overarching theme of Kickstarter was intriguing to hear, especially the opinions of it. My own views have altered slightly since hearing them and frankly to the
detriment of KS projects; As it has been reinforced that the entire model of the site is not an elaborate form of pre-ordering but more to support individuals with limited funds but a great idea ( The mural example ), it occurs to me that I should steer clear of large companies asking for handouts in this way. Further, that in order to make sure my gamble is more secure, I should carefully check out each KS proposer and
only risk my money on those with a proven track record of delivery and timeliness . . . Which would tend to be the large companies.
Bit of a paradox there.
Anyway, nothing has come down the KS canal in over a twelvemonth that I've been remotely interested in, so that's probably fine
Though I
might make an exception in the case of your guest's "Sky Relics" game - Such a lot of work and detail in this background, and what sounds like quite a premise, for once backed up by a solid and unusual rules set; Listening to his description of the damage system with the "stepped" approach to armor and systems, I was struck by the similarity to the Full Thrust game's most interesting and yet least-played faction the Phalon (
Sigh Yes, the ones that are actually modeled on
snails . . . ) and then of course he explains that a regular FT player assisted with that part of things as well as his own real-world experience. Made a lot of sense, and I might be interested in having a look when payday rolls around . . .
. . Assuming that Warcradle don't release another wave of pre-orders for old Spartan DW sculpts in the meanwhile. I was surprised that
that topic didn't come up at all in the podcast, though I suppose they are hardly new items, so it wouldn't fit that segment; And yes, I
have made an order
