Taking a Second Look at SW Armada

I have to admit, up until about 6 months ago I've mainly been a collector, rather than a player, of Star Wars Armada (SWA). Recently, however, I've managed to get a number of games in and it's entered into my regular rotation. I've really been enjoying the experience so far, to the point where I've started poking around the edges with self-printing some expansion content.

Has anyone else out there been playing any SWA recently?

A game I wanted to get into, but after investigating it I decided to not jump in.  I was not in love with the Collectible Card Game mechanics that were a key part of the game and was a carry-over from X-wing.

I kind of wish I had done it anyway, cause I can always do something with the models to make the game I wanted instead.
