Sir Rodney Carlton and his SIS Pilgrim Fleet have entered into pact with the FSA, to upgrade his fleets systems with the latest developments coming out of  Avondale Shipyard.

Um. The first thing that comes to mind is "eye-popping".

Seriously, those are I think the best-looking KoB models I've ever seen. REALLY like the camouflage pattern, especially on the heavy bombers.

Ha, yeah they are pretty bright. After using the green bronze on the Dominion's (just realized they aren't pictured) and the standard destroyers, I wanted to switch up the hull colors a bit.

Thanks! I really appreciate your thoughts! Was thinking that I had gone a bit too far on the bombers, so glad to hear that you like them. After posting I'm still seeing a few areas that could use a couple more hits of the brush. Hopefully I'll be able to post the undersides of these tonight.

Awesome looking models! I love the looks of your fleet, and the blue lighting effects are superb. The "tri-dot" camo on the bombers came out great too. About the only suggestion I could think to make is doing a little bit of a "spot" wash to add some depth to them, as they look a little flat in the pictures (could just be the lighting/flash, though). What I mean specifically is not to slather wash all over the model, but rather to take a small brush and run some black or brown wash into the panel seams on the ships and bombers; this will darken those lines some and give the minis a little more depth, while still preserving the overall bright appearance of your scheme.

Thanks Ruck! I agree with you on the washes. When putting up pics I always catch a few things that need tweaking. Had applied washes to darken the bombers, but looks like they dulled or turned grey. Going to keep on these a bit longer, and thanks for the input!

Got a little something special coming for my FSA fleet soon. Got pretty distracted with these KOB ships as of late.

Thinking on your wash comment Ruck, and am curious which ones you or others suggest. Mostly I have been sticking with the Agrax Earthshade from from Citadel. What other ones would you suggest?

For stuff like the panel lines, I've used GW's Nuln Oil, which is the successor to the Badab Black wash. I've also had some good results with the Vallejo black wash. To see what a wash applied directly to the panel lines looks like, I've used that technique on my DW Prussians and FA Terrans.
