On Sunday I will have my scenarios and campaign nearly completed for a rough review and input. The campaign idea is based loosely on a Pacific type war. Emphasizing power projection, supply lines and strengthening your fleets through rewards. All players can use the scenarios to gain extras for their fleets and get more campaign points than straight up pick up games. They are all voluntary and, with one exception, can be played in any order or not at all. A player who loses a scenario can play it again with another player but will likely have to play the other role, (attacker-defender if set up that way) and can never earn a scenario benefit more than once.
The campaign will have a six month time limit and the winner will get a DW box set of their choice (up to $50.00) No money just a box set.
I will post what I have tomorrow. Some scenarios will benefit from a judge but can be played without one. Several will need air base, Merchants or Port sets. I will have enough (old sets and make-do, not the new ones) for each and will leave them at the Game Vault if that works.
I don't have a campaign name yet either.
I anticipate staying in X-Cam as well.
Six scenarios so far.
Mysterious Island- complete for new generator technology,
Operation Black Fire- take a fueling station and merchants-  Gain a Q-ship, or escort carrier for your fleet.
Operation Ridgeway-take the air base scenario. Gain the ability to add local air in future scenarios, gain advantages for a medium flyer in future scenarios.
Raid on Port Helene- Damage a major port, "benes" not yet set. Probably a power projection (range or enhanced squadrons- size or mix)) advantage.
Merchant convoy raid, possible gain escort carrier or Q-ship, also a supply (Speed) advantage to winner
Take the straight Clear all enemy units within a radius of a straight- Difficult-- winner gets boatloads of campaign points

Sounds neat! If you would like, I can set you up your own sub-forum under the DWVA section so that you will have a spot to keep all your campaign info in one spot...just let me know.

Great games today. I enjoyed them both. the Recon game was fun and pretty quick. Interesting to try to field an effective force at 400 points.
The Strategic battle was tough, Running the Gauntlet, I was pretty worn at the end of that.
Great day of DW.
Really looking forward to playing Ruckdog at 800 points and  playing the VADM's Ottomans and Long Nine's Italians!

That Strategy game looked more like a fight between heavy weights, that went into the late rounds hahaha. There was a good bit of back and forth. Great game, great chess match, and great to meet Ruckdog. Sorry that the Italians went on such a tear against ya tho. Mag Exp are fun and add another element to the game. Not sure when i'll be able to get to a game next, but will def keep folks posted.

Oh following my defeat (i think im about 5-200 now...), and full day of travel on the rainy roads I was far to "awake" to go right to bed. Put on my favorite painting movie and finished up my submission for the contest. Waiting till this arvo to take some pics of it out in the sun.

Had a great time, too, guys! Looking forward to next weekend. I officially have sanction to head up on the 6th, baring some disaster at work.

Don't worry about the magazine explosion, Last Rites. That's just part of the game, and it would be a lot less entertaining without it ;).

You betcha! I'm definitely up for a few games. I really want to do at least one 800 pt strategy mission for the X-cam now that I have the RP for it ;).

I'm going to try stopping by to say "hello" and see some ship models on the table, but between some issues I may need to deal with at work and helping out with a Game of Thrones tabletop event on Sunday night at my FLGS, I probably won't be able to stay long enough for a game.

Ruckdog, I will be there, however I will be slightly delayed as we have our final walk through of our new home at noon (in Fredericksburg about 10-15 minutes away), so I should be be just after 1:00 PM. Other than that I have no end time per se.

How long will this be going on for?  I won't be free until the 27th, but I can come then (if you'll still be running games that day...)

27 April? Shouldn't be an issue. I may not be there THAT day as I am traveling to Wisconsin to retrieve stored stuff around then.
I plan on having this go as long as people come. I may not be there every week, but I wish it to be a known base place and time DW.
Campaigns will be playable whenever/wherever players can meet.
There is an X-Cam campaign on now and I will be setting up an open campaign centered on some scenarios in the next week.

New DW campaign nameless!
« Reply #28 on: April 21, 2014, 02:03:42 pm »
Ruck dog, I have struggled with a name for this campaign. All of those I have so far are lame. Sea Superiority, Rush for Empire, Flex campaign (ugh!), DW Empire. Or some operation name rip off like "Sky Hook" (movie rip off),. Struggle for Empire would likely be a copyright violation.
It is supposed to channel players into a island hopping strategy, looking to secure your path, and project your power with a limited set of resources. (This may sound familiar if your name was Halsey).
Yet still bring in the cool technology and variation of DW. Different powers are rushing to secure an area of the Pacific newly within reach. This will provide the forward basing for Pacific spanning operations.
Operation Over Reach? Over Watch?
Over thinking?

How about a historical reference? I've gone ahead and set up your sub-forum, and made you the moderator for it. I've tenatively named it thusly:

OPERATION GALVANIC: The Pacific Boils Over

"Operation Galvanic" was the code name for the invasion of Tarawa in '43...sounds like an appropriately steam-punk name to me ;).
