Thanks landlubber. I'd be willing to learn some of the halo stuff as well since I haven't played it yet.

It's looking likely my STAW will get cancelled, but still questionable for me to get north - forecast now shows a snow front coming in just in time for Sunday lunch. 3-5" of snow just about everywhere.

Weather forecasters are saying rain for us in the Denver area until later in the day on Sunday, when it's supposed to switch over to snow. Not sure how it's going to go in the Springs. I'll still plan to be there when the store opens at 1100.

@Warhawk, cool, would be happy to teach you.

I'll be there at 1100 unless there is ice.

Thanks all for coming out today! Was good to see a few faces that we hadn't seen in awhile. Sorry you guys from the Springs couldn't make it up, but I'm sure the weather wasn't the best--it started snowing at Collectormania shortly after we started.

After spending an hour building fleet lists for Halo: Fleet Battles and tracking down a misplaced fleet commander card, I left the house without my Fleet Battles stands.  :-[  So, Warhawk and I played Dystopian Wars (his KoB against my FSA), while Zorper showed BrdingPrty the ropes with Halo: Ground Command. MarkyMark showed up a little late and professionally observed both games.  :D

BrdingPrty apparently obliterated Zorper's UNSC--we think it was beginner's luck.

Warhawk and I pounded back forth on each other's fleets, eventually fighting to a standstill. I think the KoB probably won on points, but it was pretty close. Warhawk's KoB fleet is really nicely-painted:

He managed to pack a dreadnought and a battleship into a 1000-point list, so I had my work cut out for me. Luckily I brought the FSA's heavy battleship, the Liberty-class. I whiffed a couple of main turret rolls, but overall I think I did well against the dreadnought.

This was also my first time using my new gaming mat. After having played on other people's mats, I had to get one of these for myself. Definitely worth the money.

I'm not going to plan a games day in February due to Genghis Con, as it falls on the third weekend in February. So the next will be the third Sunday in March--the 19th--back at Collectormania.

Was fun to watch the dice rolling today!

On the Halo ground table, Dan took out one of Todd's Covenant Hunters with small arms fire (or something like that), a feat Greg boasted was "impossible!" (or something like that).

Greg packed a shield-3 generator on his Liberty Heavy Battleship and at one point managed to deflect NINE hits on him at one time!  Medals were generously handed out to the generator's crew.  Alex's Britannian dreadnought did a lot more damage with his anti-aircraft weapons than he did with all of her SIX turreted guns, for a couple of turns.

On a side note, those MBS dice definitely have good juju!

Here are a few pics of the people playing today.  And an embarrassing pic of the weakened UNSC heavy weapons squad that killed a Covenant zealot in hand to hand combat :(

Thanks for setting up the meet Landlubber!

thanks for the game. will definitely bring out the brits more and Japanese when I get them put together and painted up. Had a lot of fun slowly chugging up the field just shooting all the things, even if a lot of those shots didn't do much most of the time.

Bumping this for visibility. Next meetup would be 19 March at Collectormania--I'll call them this week to check for any scheduling conflicts. There has been a call for a Firestorm Armada theme in either March or April, so...shall we have a Firestorm March? I'll try to get us two 4x6 tables, and I can bring a space gaming mat for one (plus my RSN).

Any thoughts/dissenting opinions?

I think I can get there assuming March 12 is the date I've committed to 6mm ECW at Haven.

I can't make that Sunday - I got called upon to support a Warmachine Steamroller at KoboldCon in the Springs. I originally pushed for Saturday, but they needed us to do Sunday to allow table space for X-Wing on Sat.

So my 2 cents would be for Firestorm in April :-) Then I'll have time to get Syndicate ready.

I can pencil in the 19th.  I do not have Firestorm so maybe I'll just watch.  I'd like to play some Dirt Fight so that I can try out my Adepticon list.

Bummer Dale.

Well, let's get a couple tables, and everyone bring what they want. We'll focus on Firestorm in April.

I think that's a good idea. I should be able to make it. I could play some Halo.

Any April dates in mind yet?
I would humbly suggest the 9th or 23rd

I was also pondering how to make a round robin work - Chess Clocks! I'm actually thinking that the game could speed up a ton if each player is on a 45min timer. Maybe only pause for boarding actions, since everyone has to look those up every time it seems :-)
And if your opponent says, "Let me look that up" during your turn, clock shifts to his side.

We could get 2-3 full individual games in that way. Definitely a little more intense, but less downtime than a mass game, and less isolation that separate games.
