I talked to Dale about it a bit at lunch yesterday. What we can do is going to be somewhat limited by how many players we can expect. I think we could safely plan for 8 players with the event organizer subbing in as needed if we get less than 8. Until we're more sure of our player base, I wouldn't want to plan for something that requires more than 8.
If we can split the players into two equal teams of Kurak and Zenian, that would be ideal. We might have to fudge it if we have an odd number, but that's ok. If someone brings Marauders, we can use them as the fillers.
We would then run it as an overall team event with narrative rounds. First round would be something like we ran on Sunday. Two tables, each with 4 players, two primary and two supporting. As with Sunday's game, the supporting forces will come in as reserves. The narrative is that the primary fleets were on patrol and engaged, with each calling for backup. To shake things up, I was thinking we could randomly assign the supporting players to each primary player at the time that the first reserve roll is made. That would ideally help folks who don't normally play together to meet and support a narrative that the supporting forces were called in from HQ based on whomever happened to be closest to the battle.
That alone would make for a fun event, and as we saw on Sunday, it took about 3 hours to actually play through round 5. If we want to do 3 rounds, we're probably talking about an all-day event, which might be possible if we do it on Sunday starting in the morning. I'm open to ideas for rounds 2 and 3.
