Sorylian cruiser engine conversion. (Firestorm Armada)
« on: January 19, 2015, 12:11:48 am »
So I'm not a big fan of the drop off at the top and bottom of the Sorylian cruisers near the engines and I have a bunch of these bits that I really don't want to magnetize for cruisers or heavys. So enter the xacto knife and superglue...

Not the greatest pics, but they should do to get the point across. Anyway what do we think, do I have a hit or a miss here? Thanks for your input!

For reference here are the Heavy cruiser, cruiser, and battleship from the rear so you can see what they normally look like:

And another shot of the cruiser so you can see the dropoff where I added the engine pieces.

I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

That looks really good.  I don't mind the way they look at all, but I do like what you've done.  Maybe a Command Cruiser or for a heavy cruiser squad or something.  Can you take a few shots of the whole cruiser with the extra engines?  I'd like to see how they look in their entirety.

I like the conversion! It's a neat idea. It would make sense to give the ship some kind of maneuverability or speed upgrade as a result ;).

Thanks guys! Luckily the cruisers have a speed upgrade. ;D It's a shame the heavy cruisers don't though. :-[

Couple wider shots.

Sorry for the delay in replying, I've been busy with painting some, gasp!, 40k stuff and haven't had a lot of time to stay up on my forums :P. The extras come in the patrol fleet box and I am hopefully going to be getting around to these and finishing up a few more Firestorm projects in the coming months (assuming I don't get swamped with other projects as I am want to do). :P

Like Mark I didn't mind the look but this is a cool idea.
Firestorm doesn't see a lot of conversion work or custom builds like other games do (maybe the sculpts are just that good...). So I think it's cool to see little conversions like this one.
