DW Objective Markers
« on: January 25, 2015, 11:06:19 am »
I finished up my DW Objective Markers:

I went for a very basic look on these, but I'm happy with out they turned out.

Did you buy the set or just accumulate them in Box sets?
If you bought them I am curious what the event cards are like.

Thanks! I had a lot of fun on that one.

I got them as the box set, with the cards. The cards are interesting. There are 30 of them, and they can either be Good, Bad, or Indifferent. For the Good cards, they can give you a VP boost (up to 250 points), repair HP, repair CP, and the like. On the Bad side, they can literally blow up in your face (One card causes a 9D6 explosion!). For the indifferent cards, there are 3 cards that have have no affect on the game. The breakdown is that you have 22 Good cards, 5 Bad cards, and 3 No Affect cards, so you have a decent chance of getting something good. On the other hand, some of these cards are sufficiently powerful that I can see them having a significant impact on the game. That may be good or bad, depending on what you are looking for!

Interesting. Have them but haven't used yet. Will have to now! How did you get the rust effect on the cube?

Oops! The picture is a little off...I was actually aiming for a tarnished bronze look, but I agree, the picture makes it look more rusty. It's a little easier to see in the group shot. All the effects on these we're done with the new(ish) GW technical paints.

Good looking stuff as always Ruckdog. You'll have to post some shots of them being fought over by opposing fleets.

It occurs to me that those might be good objective markers for Deep Wars as well...may have to explore that option...

Could work...just remember, though, that these markers will come up to about knee-height on a 28-mm figure ;).

Yeah, but that might be spot on. They wouldn't all work, but the cube and the spiral thingy would be perfect I think. Ancient artifacts or some such nonsense.

Agreed, the cube looks great (they all do).  Cosmic Cube (a la Marvel Comics) or Hellraiser puzzle box?

I was thinking something like that, yeah, actually.
