Hey guys, I was the Scourge player that MajorMcNicol faced off against, and hopefully a DW player soon! Too bad you couldn't make it down Ruckdog, but maybe Major and I could make a trip up to your area. I am always up for a road trip and to see other hobby clubs/stores/gatherings.

Sure! Maybe we can meet at the Toy Soldier in Amesbury or something. I'd love to get enough folks from the area posting here to get another regiona club going like the CO and VA ones ;)

There has been some shots released of some of the models for Dropfleet:

More pictures and details were posted over on Beasts of War:

I personally can't wait to see what they do with the other factions, too.

From a gaming perspective, I think it's really interesting that it's not going to be on a space field - but rather in various atmospheric levels above a planet.  Should make for interesting new game mats!

Even though I play Resistance in DZC - which is rather unlikely to get any space-faring vessels - I'm still pretty excited about this game.

Oh, my poor FS:A fleets ;)

I came across this quick rundown of combat from one of the recent cons.
The combined arms element seems interesting.

I've been eyeing some dropzone commander models recently just for the sake of painting. Like some have said already in this thread the game seems to be completely dead in the Colorado region, but the rules seem fantastic.
I always like games with a good objective component. Can't wait to see what the other factions ships look like.

Looks like Hawk is going the Kickstarter route!

Seems like there are some neat pledge levels in there.

I know! After looking over the KS, there are a few things that stick out:

1. They are going with multi-part plastics for at least the cruisers, and you will be able to make several ship classes from each kit. Awesome! This is how BFG did it, and it worked out great for providing lots of variety.

2. 4 factions at launch! That is good to see. I've heard it argued that 4 is the minimum number of factions needed to make a new game viable.

3. Sweet bases! It looks like the game is incorporating all kinds of stat tracking into the base for each ship. So, this will mean fewer tokens, while at the same time less book keeping. On the downside, this will be a disappointment for the more traditional modelers that like to paint up their flying bases for their space games.

Overall, it looks like the KS is off to a great start! I have to admit, I'm seriously looking at the Commodore pledge level  8).

I'm seriously considering the Captain pledge level. Never backed a Kickstarter before.

Yeah, the bases are a good idea. I've watched the first couple "how-to-play" videos, and I really like the sci-fi element of the game--energy spikes, altitude levels, etc. Although if I get into the game, I will likely make some custom stands to represent the ships at different flight levels, sorta like the swim stands I made for the Deep Wars game.

Biggest draw for me, though, is the ship designs. I really like the UCM ships, and the Shaltari are growing on me. Definitely don't look like anything else on the market.

I'll buy in when an LGS can do it retail... ;-)
Otherwise, its a lot of pretty with little sustainment.

Valid points... the only issue is that there aren't really any stores in NOVA that stock much in the way of inventory for anything that's not 40k, WM/H, or FoW. As a result, I tend to be more open to jumping on stuff like this. Plus, it lets me serve as an "early adopter" and provide details on the game to all of you  8).
