Dropfleet: Spaceship Battles in the DZC Universe UPDATE 11/2: KS Now Up!

Seems like the guys at Hawk games, who are behind the Dropzone Commander game, are making a space combat game in the same setting. Not a lot has been announced yet; there has been official confirmation that the game is in production, and that one Andy Chambers is attached. Chambers was one of the main developers of BFG back in the day, so this is exciting news indeed!

I have high hopes for this.  Although I have not played DZC, the minis look really sweet.  And Chambers came off as a creative goofball in the BFG world, so that can only be a plus.

Did DZC ever get any traction? I think I've only seen it played at my FLGS once, and maybe once at one of the local cons. In fact, the Gamer's Haven owner basically cleaned out all his stock of DZC to make room for Planetfall...I don't think the Haven even carries DZC anymore.

I remember some of the models looking pretty cool.

I think, like Spartan, DZC has been hit or miss. Some areas seem to have latched on to it; I remember the minis being readily available in Norfolk, and Major McNichol is going to be meeting up with some friends to play tomorrow (I'll be tagging along to try and get some DW in!).

Have since gotten into FsA and now FsP so though interested in this development not sure will get into it

Yeah, I think there is an element of that, to be sure. It will really depend on just how good the rules and minis turn out to be. They are going to have to be significantly better to be able to carve out a niche.

That being said, I definitely plan on at least getting a copy of the rules; I have this think about collecting rule sets  .

I gotta say, DZC is a lot of fun to play, and paints up very fast.  And the card terrain looks awesome!

Dang, looking good.  They have some fantastic minis.  Do you have a favorite faction?  For play and for the minis?  And I love the city-scape terrain too. 

And very cool read on the Warhammer/teaching English, by the way.

Those red and yellow dropships (I don't know the factions) always reminded me of the airships from the John Carter movie. Which is to say, they're pretty darn cool.

Sorry I should have specified more: those pictures are from a gaming day I went to (Andy couldn't make it) and includes all four armies present.  Mine are the grey-green-green Resistance models, who faced off the Geiger-esque tan Scourge.  The first game was between Klarg1's red Shaltari (he's on the Spartan Games forum a lot) and Zaknafn's bone PHR (also on SG forums).  Zak wrote up a battle report here:

It's fun!  And cheap.  In those ways, very comparable to DW and FS:A to me.

Hey guys, I was the Scourge player that MajorMcNicol faced off against, and hopefully a DW player soon! Too bad you couldn't make it down Ruckdog, but maybe Major and I could make a trip up to your area. I am always up for a road trip and to see other hobby clubs/stores/gatherings.
